Frequently asked questions
QUESTION 1
Yes, you will find our recommendations further down the site under “Lens placement and temple adjustment”.
question 2
You can safely use our eyewear without fear of an allergic reaction. All FLEYE frames are hypoallergenic and gentle to the skin. We have made sure that all of our frames comply with government requirements concerning levels of nickel release. Allergies can be caused by many things and often cosmetics are to blame. Pay extra attention to mascara and eye shadow in black, pearl and blue-violet shades. They are typically filled with nickel. If you experience an allergic reaction and it is not due to cosmetics, another reason could be that the fit of the frame is too tight. If the fit of the frame is extremely tight you can in rare cases experience that the natural acid of the skin etches completely through the titanium and into the metal core, where traces of nickel might be found. Although the screws in the frames are made of steel, they are completely coated in paint and will not come into prolonged contact with the skin.
question 3
No. Each inner rim is specially designed to match one specific colour in one specific frame style.
question 4
We do not recommend cleaning the frame in ultrasound as this can lead to damaging and discolouring the frame.
question 5
Some matte frames may attract dirt and make-up and appear dull over time. Simply wash in lukewarm water with a drop of mild detergent or rub a clean pencil eraser over the frame to remove the dirt and restore the original frame colour.
question 6
You will find our recommendations further down the site under “Lens placement and temple adjustment”.
question 7
In most cases we can help you by providing different length temple tips. Please call us as our FLEYE Customer Service will be happy to help you.
question 8
Our polarized clip-on blocks 86% of sunlight.
question 9
No. However, our nose pads come in five different versions:
- Small, soft silicon nose pads
- Small, soft silicon nose pads with a solid core
- Large soft, silicon nose pads
- Large, soft silicon nose pads with a solid core
- Large nose pads in solid plastic
Lens placement and temple adjustment
LENS PLACEMENT: Despite carbon fiber’s strength, please handle carefully as the carbon fibre frames do not tolerate forceful twisting, especially when without lenses. We recommend using 1.6 index plastic lenses. High prescription lenses can be used, however for extreme prescriptions please consult with your lens supplier regarding suitability to this type of lens.
If you are using remote glazing via scanning, we recommend that you indicate ‘metal’ for the frame material. This will ensure the optimal (reduced) size lens to accommodate a carbon fibre frame which will not stretch.
For high plus prescriptions we recommend placing the facet in the middle of the lens. Please order the lenses with as slight a curve as possible.
Contact your glass lenses supplier and consider practicing glazing using a test lens.
Smooth off the rough edge of the lens before insertion to avoid scratching of the frame. Heat should not be applied to carbon fibre as it is rigid and will not stretch.
Insert lenses from the front without applying heat.
ADJUSTMENT: Carbon fibre is a rigid material that is very good at keeping its shape. Curving of the carbon front is therefore not possible. Temple tips can be safely adjusted by the application of heat. If you wish to angle the beta-titanium corner between front and temple, this is possible. Carefully bend the beta-titanium using two pairs of pliers and a cloth to prevent scratching. Adjust it to the inclination angle that you want.
LENS PLACEMENT: Smooth off the rough edge of the lens before insertion to avoid scratching of the frame. For a durable result, insert lenses from the front of the frame without applying heat. Applying heat causes significant stretching and shrinkage of the acetate which risks the lens working its way out of the frame with use.
ADJUSTMENT: Temple tips can be safely adjusted by the application of heat.
LENS PLACEMENT: Loosen lens screws and fit lenses from the back of the frame. For those frames that have a beta-titanium rim around the lens shapes, this rim should be kept in place when lenses are inserted. Tighten screws for a secure fit.

ADJUSTMENT: The horn frames are already adjusted for a good fit. However, if you need to make further adjustment to the frame, it is possible. To adjust the temple tips, heat them thoroughly until soft and warm all the way to the core. Now bend the temple tip. Once you have it in the right position, put it under cold water. Apply some beeswax and wipe it off with a cloth to restore the natural luster of the horn.
